While it may be nippy outside, and you’re likely thinking of nothing other than sitting by the fire and burrowing deep under a blanket with a cup of hot cocoa, there will come a time when the temperatures will rise, the ground will thaw, and Michigan’s great outdoors will invite you out for adventures in hiking, boating, swimming, and camping. We are lucky to live in a state with two peninsulas full of inviting state parks. In fact, the parks are so inviting that, as soon as the new year hits, they start filling up with reservations for the warmer months. Affordable rates make the parks attractive to families and groups of friends looking for accessible ways to explore the state.

With the many state parks out there, you may be wondering, “How can I find the right state park to make a reservation at?” or “Which state park is right for me?” Well, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources has heard your questions, and created a campground search in which you can specify your preferences for things like type of lodging, accessibility, and activity. Through their website you can also view a map of Michigan and click on any given county to view state parks, campgrounds, and pathways.

Take advantage of Michigan’s natural beauty by planning your next adventure and making a reservation at a state park today.
