Brillig Dry Bar is a new pop-up bar that debuted on December 5th at Mighty Good Coffee on Main Street in Ann Arbor. The bar, launched by Nic Sims, opened its doors to raging success.
Among the bustling crowd were people of all ages–former drinkers, pregnant women, teenagers, and those who abstain for religious reasons–who were interested in hanging out in a fun, alcohol-free area. All were welcome to try any of Brillig’s original “mocktails,” from its Vernors Cranberry Sour to its Brooklyn Egg Cream. There were also light snacks, including cheese and fruit trays.
Brillig hopes to hold monthly pop ups and to be an alcohol-free place where conversation and connection can happen. While the December 5th event hosted a jazz trio, Sims envisions future events including other genres of live music as well as games and poetry slams.
Wondering what to do in the days between Christmas and New Year’s? The first event was so successful, Sims has planned the next event for December 26. It will be a “Boxing Day Party” from 7-11pm that will include an expanded drink selection.
Mighty Good Coffee is located near Ann Arbor’s 111 North Ashley-Ashley Terrace, Water Hill, Armory, Liberty Lofts, and Bach Elementary neighborhoods.
