Leslie Science Center will host Earth Day Festival 2024.
Here are four fantastic events to celebrate Earth Day with the entire family:
1. Ann Arbor Earth Day Festival at Leslie Science & Nature Center
Where: Leslie Science & Nature Center
When: April 21, 2024
Time: 1-4 p.m.
Details: Families are invited to celebrate Earth Day with a free festival at the Leslie Science & Nature Center. The event will feature displays, hands-on activities, and live entertainment focusing on green building technologies, sustainable agriculture, water conservation, and more.
Musical performers include Marsha Mumm, The Pontiac Trailblazers, and Milan & the Ellipsis. In addition, there will be presentations by the Office of Sustainability & Innovations on topics like tree identification and Ann Arbor’s Climate Action Plan.
2. Earth Day Festival in Downtown Ann Arbor
Where: 5th Avenue and Library, downtown Ann Arbor
When: April 20-21, throughout the day and evening
Details: This free festival in downtown Ann Arbor will feature music and other performances throughout the day and evening. Acts include Timothy Monger State Park, Bichini Bia Congo Dance Theater Company, Zosette, and the Groove, and Steve Somers and Friends Band. The event also aims to collect emergency medical supplies and firefighting gear for Africa.
3. Earth Day Fest with Growing Hope
Where: Ypsilanti Farmers MarketPlace, 16 S. Washington St., Ypsilanti
When: April 20, 2024, 1-5 p.m.
Details: Hosted by Ypsilanti nonprofit Growing Hope, this family-friendly event at the Ypsilanti Farmers MarketPlace will feature activities, educational workshops, and information on ways to protect the planet. It’s a great opportunity to learn and engage with sustainable practices.
4. Volunteering with Ann Arbor’s Natural Area Preservation
- Saturday, April 20:
Bird Hills Nature Area: Volunteer from 9 a.m. to noon or 1 to 4 p.m. Pre-register for the event online. - Sunday, April 21:
Mary Beth Doyle Park: Volunteer from 9 a.m. to noon. Pre-register for the event online.
